Córdoba is of Colombian origin and these three pieces draw fully on a popular Latin style. The first uses a D-G bass tuning and the title presumably refers to the slight inflections present at times between the drone bass and the melody at the start and end of the piece. Zambalero is in normal tuning and is a straightforward folkloric dance with some percussive effects.Prélude finishes the set and returns to D-G tuning. Its a wider ranging piece than the previous and flows with grace and melodic charm. They left the title of this one off the cover.
The set as a whole is around Grade 6 and is a pleasant and well-written collection. (Stephen Kenyon, Classical Guitar, 10/2001)
